Born at Hawker in the Flinders Ranges, Edmund George (Ted) Haskett, the youngest son of a farmer, moved with his family to live at Pages Flat Road, Willunga at anearly age. After finishing school Ted worked as a Labourer and enlisted aged 19.
He served until 16 May 1919, when he became seriously ill with tonsillitis and diptheria and returned to Australia.
After the war Ted worked as a builders' labourer. He married Lydia Sabina Boothey on 27 October 1923 and the came to live at Willunga, raising five children. In 1939 they owned a dairy farm on Victor Harbor Road, which the family ran while Ted served again in World War II, based at Keswick Barracks.
In 1951 Ted sold the dairy property and the family moved to Whyalla, where he was employed by BHP until retiring to Port Noarlunga. He and Lydia moved to Morphett Vale in 1971 to live with one of their daughters. He died two years later aged 76 years. His widow died on 30 November 1988 aged 85.
