Son of Benjamin and Martha GASKELL

PRIVATE SID. GASKELL.
Word was received on August 25th by his relatives that Pte. Sid. Gaskell, of West Footscray, had died of wounds in France. He was 20 years of age and left Australia on October 11, 1915, for active service. For some time, how ever, he was retained as a bandsman at Salisbury Plain, and not until he had volunteered seven times for field service was he drafted to the front. He was there some time before Christmas and took part in some of the hardest fighting in the campaign. Before enlisting he was employed by Mr C. Weyland. He has many relatives in the district.
