William Robert GIBSON was born at Woodend, Victoria in 1878

His parents were Thomas GIBSON & Mary Ann DRYDEN

He enlisted in Melbourne on 12th July, 1915 & embarked with the 22nd Battalion, 5th reinforcements on 29th September, 1915 on the RMS Osterley

William was Killed in Action in France on 5th January, 1917 and is buried in Delville Wood Cemetery (Plot VII, Row M, Grave 1)

His name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial
