Embarked the 'Port Lincoln'in Sydney on 11/6/17.
Disembarked in Suez on 6/8/17.
Embarked the 'Madras' in Kantara 28/6/19 for return to Australia.
Medically discharged on 29/9/19.
My grandfather didn't say very much about the war. He came back very unwell. He suffered from Malaria. Of the things he did mention two stand out.
He remembers being out in the open desert having a rest, he said he had a bad feeling.... he suggested they move... only moments after the spot was shelled.
He hated the fact he had to shoot his mount before returning home was one of the hardest things he had ever had to do in his life.
