"RETURNING SOLDIER DROWNED Perth, Nov. 13.
It is reported that whilst a vessel was coming to anchorage in Gage Roads, Fremantle, on Monday, a returning soldier, Private. R. Williams, was seen to fall over the side of the ship. Boats were immediately lowered, but no trace of the man could be found, and it is feared that he was drowned." - from the Kalgoorlie Miner 14 Nov 1918 (nla.gov.au)
