A social arranged by the local branch of the Red Cross Society to welcome home Trooper Cecil Crossin, who has just returned after two years' service in Egypt, was held last week. The first part of the programme consisted of musical items. Trooper Crossin was then asked to step on the platform, and received an enthusiastic reception. Mr. Clyde Gibson, in the absence of the Warden (Mr. W. M. Lester), on behalf of those present, presented Trooper Crossin with a gold pendant, and gave him a hearty welcome home. The audience then stood and sang "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow," and gave three cheers for the soldier. Supper was then handed round, followed by a dance.
