His brother Gordon Lacey served on the Western Front from March 1915 wither the 9 Battalion London Regiment (Queen Victoria Rifles)

On 22/23 September 1918 he won the Military Cross at Kildare Post near Épehy. He was wounded and died on the 29 September 1918. He was a Second Lieutenant.
