Pte Solin served as a Driver with the 3rd Divsional Ammunition Column during the First World War, where he saw service on the Western Front. On 28 May 1941 Pte Solin enlisted with the 2nd AIF and died of illness in Western Australia on 15 July 1942... The family was originally named Eskilson when they migrated from Sweden in 1867 but changed their name to Solin, presumeably because it was easier to pronounce in English than Eskilson." - SOURCE (www.awm.gov.au)
