Son of Elizabeth Oxman nee Buchanan of Lauriston, Victoria.

John was born John Buchanan and later added Oxman on the marriage of his mother. Served as John Buchanan Oxman.

Commenced return to Australia on 5 April 1918 aboard HT Borda disembarking on 30 May 1918
