Son of John James Quine and Elizabeth L. Quine nee Carbis of Ballarat, Victoria.

Next of kin given as his brother Robert Crellin Quine of Evans Street, Sans Souci, Sydney, NSW. Robert returned to Australia on 18 October 1916 having served with the 2nd Remount Unit and William John Quine who died of wounds on 10 April 1918 while serving with the 6th Field Company Engineers. Buried in Gezaincourt Communal Cemetery Extension Plot 11, Row K, Grave 17

Commenced return to Australia on 29 January 1916 aboard HS Suffolk disembarking on 8 March 1916
