Blencoe Edward Green was born on 31 Jul 1918, at Marulan, New South Wales, Australia. He was the son of Vaughan Edward Green and his wife Eva May Platt. Blencoe was named in honour of Vaughan's brother Blencowe Edward Green, who died in WW1 on 18 July, 1916 at Frommelles, France. He was just 20 years old.
