Rat of Tobruk
Robert William McAdam Jnr (1918-1993): Service Number - VX28525 WW2 –Son of Robert and Annie McAdam of Stuart St. Moonee Ponds. Enlisted at Flemington and attained the rank of Lieutenant in the 9th Div AASC. AIF. Rats of Tobruk. The Rats of Tobruk were soldiers of the Australian-led Allied garrison that held the Libyan port of Tobruk against the Afrika Corps, during the siege of Tobruk in WW2. The siege started on 11 April 1941 and was relieved on 10 December 1941. The port continued to be held by the Allies until its surrender on 21 June 1942.
