Son of James Louis & Mrs. E Campigli; brother of Donald Hugh Campigli DCM who returned to Australia on 5 July 1915 having served with the Corps Signals Company and 2nd Lieutenant George Murray Campigl whowas discharged after having served at the Headquarters of the ANZAC Mounted Division

Medals: British War Medal, Victory Medal

Prior to enlisting John also served with the 7th Australian Garrison Artillery, Queenscliff, Victoria
