Son of Edward Vaughan and Mary Vaughan nee Moriarty of Mackenzie Street, Lutwyche, QLD formerly of Kiama, NSW. Brother of Daniel Kevin Vaughan who returned to Australia on 30 April 1919 having served with the 41st Battalion.

Peviously had served in the Naval Cadets for six months in S.S.L Cleveland. Brisbane, QLD

Husband of Honor Vaughan nee Outen of Mackenzie Street, Lutwyche, QLD. Francis and Honor married on 19 February 1916 in QLD

Commenced return to Australia on 16 June 1919 aboard HT Ormond disembarking on 4 August 1919 at Sydney for onward travel to Brisbane.
