Private Paul Pettit was a Roman Catholic soldier residing in Redfern, NSW at the time of his enlistment on the 19th of July 1915. He enlisted in the Imperial forces at 24 years of age and became a member of the 13th Australian Infantry Battalion. 

He was a brother to Patrick Pettit who was one year his elder. 

He was killed in action on the 7th of August 1917 in Belgium and is honoured with a memorial at the Messines Ridge British Cemetary.
