Driver Michael John Flynn (Service Nos:WX30609/W4383) initially served in the ACMF as a Private from 5 February 1941 to 17 July 1942 and was on Rottnest Island with 7th Heavy Artillery when he transferred to the AIF. Private Flynn served in Borneo (Morotai, Balikapan) with 2 Machine Gun Coy from 27 May 1945 to 2 December 1945 and was a Driver attached to 124 General Transport Coy at Discharge on 4 June 1946.

Born in 1913 in Kalgoorlie WA, Don was the youngest of six children of Maurice Flynn (b1868 in Hartley, NSW) and Bridget Farrell (b1869 at King River, Victoria). Maurice (a Groom) and Bridget married in 1900 in Wangaratta, Victoria and moved to the Kalgoorlie/Boulder Goldfields in 1903. Maurice worked as a Miner at Paringa and Hannans, and in 1916 was at the Great Boulder Gold Mine when he was killed by a rock fall.

Don worked in Perth and Rockingham as a Labourer and Bread Carter and in 1938 married Pearl Mary Dearden (b1920 in Perth, WA). Following his Discharge from the Army, Don and Pearl settled in Kalgoorlie where they raised their family and Don worked for the Tramways and as a Miner. Don died in 1986 and Pearl in 1991.
