David Dann Castle
David Dann Castle was born on the 22nd November 1895 in Toowoomba, Queensland. His father was Emerson Castle 1853-1901 and Frances Ellen Castle nee Dann 1867-1956.
David worked as a farmer and enlisted in Rosewood, Queensland on the 15th April 1915. His brother Emerson Castle 1891-1976 also enlisted. David had five brothers of whom two died in infancy and two sisters, one dying in infancy.
David’s mother married again after the death of his father but named his uncle Charles Castle as his next of kin on his enlistment form.
David was killed in action on the 7th June 1917, aged 21. He is remembered on The Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Belgium.
