93 years ago today, on the Thursday afternoon of the 20th February 1930, Private Frederick Edward Kelly, 4th Battalion (Reg No-474), labourer (navvy), from Railway Reserve, Lawson Street, Hamilton, New South Wales, was laid to rest at Sandgate Cemetery, age 37. CATHOLIC 1-A Spec. 123. Never married.
Born at Islington, New South Wales about 1893 to Michael Edward (died 30.7.1933, age 79) of 10 Swan Street, Hamilton, N.S.W. and Mary Ann J Kelly (died 19.5.1928, age 63 - no funeral or death notice located), Frederick enlisted on the 24th January 1916 with the 34th Battalion at Newcastle, N.S.W.
Admitted to hospital 12.1.1917 (influenza), 1.2.1917 (nephritis).
Frederick returned home invalided on the 25th November 1917, being discharged medically unfit.
Mr. Kelly’s name has been inscribed on the Hamilton Municipal District Roll of Honor and the St. Mary's-Marist Bros' School (Newcastle) Honour Roll. Name not inscribed on the Hamilton (Gregson Park) War Memorial.
Service record states Died after Discharge, 19.2.1930.

Older brother Joseph Edward (born East Maitland, New South Wales, 25.7.1882, fireman or railway guard from No. 6 Terrace, Sheriff Street, Forbes, New South Wales, enlisted 18.1.1916, 53rd and 56th Battalions, KIA 20th July 1916, Battle of Fromelles, age 33, resting at Anzac Cemetery, Sailly-sur-la-Lys, France. Plot I Row H Grave 6, awaiting memorialisation same location.
Younger brother Robert Andrew (born Hamilton, New South Wales, 28.11.1895, plumber from Lawson Street, Hamilton, New South Wales and 8 Ivy Street, Islington, N.S.W., enlisted 23.10.1916, 4th Battalion, Reg No-7014, RTA 1.2.1919, invalided, died 16th April 1957, age 61) resting same location.
I have placed poppies and two 1914-1918 WAR labels at the gravesite in remembrance of the service and sacrifice of these 3 brothers for God, King & Country.
