The death took place in the Anzac Repatriation Hostel on June 27 of Mr. Edward Charles 'Teddy") Barrett. The late Mr. Barrett, who was the second son of Mrs. E. T. Barrett and the late Mr. William Barrett, of Gravelly Beach, West Tamar, Tasmania, was born in the Island State. The deceased enlisted in the Great War, and served with the 40th Battalion of the A.I.F., and early in the war was severely wounded. He was only 18 years of age when he returned to the Hobart Soldiers' Hospital. He came to Queensland some time later, and had been an inmate of the Anzac Hostel for the last five years. He bore his illness with great fortitude, and his sunny disposition endeared him to all who knew him. He was a close friend of the late Mr. Bernard Archer, who was also a native of Tasmania, and an inmate of the Anzac Hostel. Mr. Barrett passed away a week after the death of his friend, and is survived by his mother, four sisters, and three brothers.
