Son of Henry Vinall and Eleanon Blanche Vinall nee Corrigan of Morwell, Victoria formerly of South Africa.

Brother of Henry Victor Vinall who returned to Australia on 1 September 1919 having served with the 14th Field Artillery Brigade. 

Commenced return to Australia on 19 February 1919 aboard HT Orca disembarking on disembarking on 17 April 1919
