Thomas the Engine Driver
My Grand Uncle Thomas Cheshire came from a family of Train Drivers and had been employed by Queensland Rail as a Fireman and Engine Driver. After surviving WW1 he went back to the Railway and in 1944 was driving a Troop Train when the Train Engine crashed through a bridge near Cardwell, Queensland on it's way south. Thomas was at the wheel and killed there was speculation that the accident was actually sabotage. Thomas was buried in Innisfail near his baby brother James Cheshire. He was highly respected in Innisfail and a much loved son, husband and brother especially to my Grandmother Ellen Neilsen nee Cheshire.
