The youngest of ten, Ron was born in Melbourne, Victoria in 1921 to Edward and Adela Roberts. His father, Edward Charles Roberts (b1869 in Bendigo, Victoria) and mother, Adela Lovie (b1875 in Tootgarook, Mornington, Victoria) married in 1904 in Melbourne, Victoria where they raised their family. Edward worked as a Draper, Grocer and Salesman.
In January 1942 Ron enlisted in the Australian Army (Private; Service No:VX70839). He served with 2/1st Forestry Coy RAE and the Ordnance Training Depot Bendigo, and was a Sapper attached to 1st Battalion RAE when he was Discharged in May 1945.
Ron married Olive Helen Lorraine Day (b1924 in Melbourne, Victoria) in 1942 in Melbourne, Victoria. Following his Discharge, Ron and Olive settled in Melbourne, Victoria where Ron worked as a Painter. Ron died in 2004 and Olive in 2014.
