Private Cyril Prosper Barrell (Service No:NX14951) served in the Australian Army in May/June 1940 and was attached to 2/17th Infantry Battalion when he was Discharged.

Born in 1909 in Sydney NSW, Cyril was the eighth of ten children of George Henry Barrell (b1866 in Sydney, NSW) and Amy Louise Mayne (b1870 in Sydney, NSW). George (a Carpenter) and Amy married in 1888 in Sydney NSW where they settled and raised their family. George worked as a Carpenter until his death in 1925.

Cyril worked as a Motor Driver and Labourer in Sydney prior to his enlistment in May 1940. Following his Discharge, Cyril was a Pensioner and in 1954 in Sydney NSW, married Winifred Mary Hutton (b1911 in Goulburn, NSW) - Winifred was a Clerk in Sydney. Cyril and Winifred settled in Sydney NSW where Cyril died in 1957. Winifred died in 2002.
