Biography contributed by Sharyn Roberts

L. G. ADDISON enlisted on 7th January and embarked as 2nd Lieutenant in 23rd Battalion on 9th May 1915. He arrived in Egypt on 6th June, and having been promoted to Lieutenant on 26th August, arrived at Anzac on 1st September 1915. He remained there until Evacuation and then went with his unit to Egypt and France.

He suffered a great deal from sickness, being invalided with dysentery four times in 3 1/2 years; in March 1917 he returned to Australia on furlough, but got back to his battalion in time to take part in the final offensive against the Germans in 1918.

He was on 1st September wounded slightly in the face at the Battle of Mont St. Quentin and for his services on that occasion he was on 1st February 1919 awarded M.C. He was promoted to Captain on 28th October 1918, and having returned to Australia on 12th June his appointment was terminated on 20th June 1919.
