Biography contributed by Sharyn Roberts

Rev. Hugh Wilson officiating minister performed the ceremony of uniting in matrimony Mr. William Dawson Fisk and Miss Ella Virtue, both of Guildford, at 'The Grove,' the residence of the bride's mother, on 8th May 1915 - William would embark on 25th June 1915.

02 October 1915 - Word has been received this week by Mrs. W. D. Fisk (nee Virtue), Guildford, of the reported wounding of her husband Corporal W. D. Fisk at the Dardanelles on 1st September last. Corporal Fisk has been disembarked at Malta, Sept. 1st.

Another D.C.M.
Sergeant W. D. Fisk, of Guildford, has been officially reported missing. A few days after their notification his name appeared amongst the war awards, having received the D.C.M. for bravery in rescuing wounded under fire. He left Sydney as corporal with B Company 20th Battalion for Egypt, thence on to Gallipoli, where the Battalion remained till the evacuation (the 20th playing an important part). He returned to Egypt as a sergeant, and after a short spell left for France, where he has been since Australians landed there. One of the relatives writes to " The Argus ": — "As your paper circulates amongst so many soldiers at the front your publication of the above
may be the means of us hearing something of him." Much sympathy is expressed for Mrs. Fisk, who resides at Guildford.
