World War 1 Service

14 Oct 1915: Honoured Military Medal, Posthumous award Military Medal 24 january 1919-Albert together with Gunner Roberts "displayed great courage and initiative in establishing and maintaining communications between their Battery and the F.O.C's during the operations of the 8th and 9th August, 1918, in front of HAMEL-VILLERS BRETONNEUX. On several occasions they repaired the telephone lines under heavy fire, salving German wire for the purpose, and displaying a total disregard for personal safety in the performance of their duty. When telephonic communications became impossible, they acted as runners, passing through heavy machine gun and rifle fire at close range. The courage and devotion of these men are worthy of recognition."
