Reginald Stanley Allen (1892-1969), was born on the either 31st of August 1892 at Hyde Park, South Australia. Son of Charles Allen and Florence Emily Maud Allen, he was a congregational Christian residing in Glenelg, Holdfast Bay, South Australia. He was not married nor had children before the war and worked as a railway draughtsman.

He enlisted into the Australian Imperial Forces on the 8th June 1915 and joined the 10th Infantry Battalion. On the 21st of September 1915, he embarked from Australia aboard the vessel H.M.A.T A15 Star of England. He was taken on strength with the 10th Infantry Battalion at Mudros 29th November 1915.

At the start of March 1916, he was appointed Lance Corporal and proceeded to France later that month. After being placed on the supernumerary list (temporary surplus for the unit staff) at the beginning of September 1916, he was appointed as Sergeant temporarily in field. On October 26th, this promotion was made permanent with him replacing Sergeant Sangster. In February 1917, he was appointed Acting Company Sergeant Major, without pay.

He became ill 13th March 1917 and after initial treatment in France was transferred to England. On 23rd March 1917, he was admitted to the 3rd London General Hospital diagnosed with epididymitis. On 7th June 1917 Allen was discharged and sent to Weymouth and then Perham Downs for further convalescence.

He reported to Officer Cadet Battalion 9th November 1917 and was appointed Cadet until commissioned. He proceeded overseas to France 9th May 1918. A few days later he was hospitalised. After 77 days he marched in to Australian Divisional Base Depot and then proceeded to rejoin the 10th Battalion in the field 31st July 1918. Allen was promoted to Lieutenant 15th September 1918.

Allen returned to Australia embarking 10th November 1919. Lieutenant Allen disembarked in Australia 12th December from the ship Nestor. On the 25th of February 1920 official notice that Allen's appointment in the A.I.F. was terminated as of 5 March 1920 due to "termination of period of enlistment".  

Reginald Stanley Allen died on the 26th of August 1962 at 69 years of age. He was cremated in Centennial Park Cemetery.
