Biography

Ireland Thomas James was born on May 3rd 1896, Son of John and Florence Elizabeth May Ireland. James grew up with 2 siblings including his brother and himself, 2 wealthy skilled men which were high quality trained soldiers. James grew up in 2 Bond St Norwood South Australia which he grew up and lived in. Thomas James is 19 years and 8 months old, height of 5 feet and 10.5 inches, grey eyes, brown hair and a chest measurement of 33.5 inches.

Thomas James had a service number of 1885 and had a private rank, as Thomas James worked with the army he was a soldier which was remembered as a special one receiving numerous amount of awards including 5th Australian pioneer battalion, and also receiving Adelaide #1 national war memorial which had been an honour for him to achieve this prize. Thomas James was a keen man to achieve big things in the war as he wanted to take the role on of being a survivor and wanting to achieve the best possible for his soldiers. He trained in Adelaide where he picked most of his shooting skill and army based skill to reach where he was, He took many responsibilities with big roles, and which covered these roles with a good manner. Thomas James carried many weapons while on the journey these can include, high quality guns consisting of riffles and machine guns he had also equipped toxic bombing which had killed many. As well as Thomas James was a high developed soldier he had was also great in the kitchen as he was a very experienced chef and loved to cook food.

At the age of 19, Thomas James had left his family, to be shipped to Australia for World War 1 grounding. This was because England were allies with Australia, and they both organised that the soldiers should come down to Australia to travel to Belgium in their Infantry Battalions and then to travel to Gallipoli. Thomas James had embarked on the HMAT Aeneas A60 which was a big populated ship. While taking on the role of a soldier he had suddenly reached illness where he was under observations from the Australian nurses which had travelled it had seemed to be diarrhoea which was the cause of his illness as he suffered from the illness for a vast amount of days as well as suffering from diarrhoea he had sprained his ankles multiple times which had a big impact on his performances. On with the journey of the war Thomas James knew himself that it was going to be a tough challenge and responsibility to take on as they found it hard as the living conditions were horrific. During the journey Thomas James was killed in action and which had passed away on 4/11/17, horrific news had past threw as a skilled talented man was nowhere to be seen. Currently Thomas James’ cemetery is now located in Perth Cemetery (China Wall), Ypres, Flanders, Belgium. His death had been recorded on the 3rd May a day which will always be remembered from his family and friends. We know how hard conditions were living and trying to survive in the war, we know that not all soldiers come back to Australia without any injuries and we remember the ones who haven’t.
