His occupation is shown as electric motor driver, while his father states his other training is "School teaching" on his Roll of honour Circular (s3-ap-southeast-2.amazonaws.com)

Patrick was wounded and returned to England for treatment, after which he returned to the front.

Patrick's father said he had spoken to his comrades who said that Patrick was "the bravest of his company". He fought in several theatres, including Ypres, where 38000 were casualties.
