Son of George Michael Oliver and Agnes Oliver nee Davidson of Woolsthorpe, Victoria

Attempted to enlist in January 1916 but was rejected due to his teeth.

Commenced return to Australia on 2 January 1919 aboard HT Karmala disembarking on 15 February 1919

Medals: British War Medal, Victory Medal

1878 Private (Pte) George Michael Oliver, 46th Battalion. A blacksmith from Woolsthorpe, Victoria prior to enlistment, Pte Oliver embarked with the 2nd Reinforcements from Melbourne on HMAT Euripides on 4 April 1916. Later wounded in action he was evacuated to the 3rd Canadian Field Ambulance where he developed bronchitis and influenza. Later rejoining his unit he contracted dysentery and was evacuated to England. On returning to the field he was wounded again and returned to Australia on 14 January 1919.
