He was 54 and served with 3 Garrison Brigade Australian Infantry.
He was accepted, after research, for commemoration as war dead on 25/08/2012.

Parents: - Edwin and Bridget Ellen Bigwood (nee Keane).
Herbert never married when he died in 1944 he was interred with Mary Florence Griffin (nee Bigwood), his sister who died June 1969 and her husband Francis Parnell Griffin who died 1948.
