25 Aug 1918: | Honoured Military Medal, At Cappy on 25 August 1918 Private Vaughan while out on a daylight patrol with one other rank rushed a German machine gun position with his Lewis Gun, firing from the hip while advancing. He succeeded capturing the position killing five of the enemy garrison. Through the courageous act of this man the balance of his platoon were able to advance. At all times this soldier has shown remarkable ability and keen judgement and coupled with fine personal bravery which was a fine example to all ranks. Before migrating to Australia Harold had served in the Liverpool City Police for two years.
Son of M.L. Vaughan and A. Vaughan of Owen Road, Kirkdale Liverpool, England.
Commenced return to Australia on 8 October 1918 aboard HT Port Sydney disembarking on 2 December 1918 at Sydney for onward travel to Brisbane
