Son of Henry Orgill and Sarah Ann Orgill nee Hawkes of Scott Street, Dandenong, Victoria.

Brother of Arthur Garfield Orgill who was killed in action on 11 April 1917 while serving with the 5th Battalion and is buried in the Vaulx Hill Cemetery, Plot 1, Row G, Grave 21; Percy James Orgill who returned to Australia on 20 August 1919 having serving with the 29th Battaiion.
