Hawkey in sad but loving memory of my dear brother W. J. Hawkey 8th Battalion killed at Pozieres 25/7/1916
Far from the land of wattle
Far from the ocean deep
Far from those who love him our dear brave brother sleeps
Daily the boys come marching home with gladdened eyes
The flag they fought for floating in the skies
Victory is ours, but if my years fall fast
You will forgive I see no brother of mine March past
Inserted by his loving sister Essie
