Add my storyBiography
Arthur was the oldest son of Robert and Catherine Thomson of Queanbeyan. He was one of 24 children, although some of his brothers and sisters were born after he enlisted in the Australian Army and left Australia.
Arthur grew up on the land and worked as a labourer prior to joining up. He was a much loved son and brother and his death impacted deeply on his family, particularly his mother.
Arthur has no known grave and a number of his nieces and nephews will travel to Belgium in 2017 to commemorate 100 years since he was killed in action during the battle of Polygon Wood.
