The story of Louis Anderson begins with his grandfather Louis Paris Anderson, born in Newbridge Victoria in 1863 to Louis and Isabella Anderson (nee McKean). Louis was one of 5 children. His brother Ernest Thomas Anderson was born in 1869. In 1886 Louis junior, married Caroline Louisa Tracey and they had 4 children including Louis Arthur Anderson born 4th March 1889 and Norman Anderson 1890. They lived in Macauley Road, North Melbourne and Louis worked as a lorry driver. 18th July 1893 at the age of 30 Louis died. Two years later in 1895 Ernest Thomas Anderson (also a Lorry Driver) married Caroline, there were no children from this marriage. Ernest considered his brothers children as his own
Louis Arthur Anderson matriculated and completed a Bachelor of Arts with Honours most likely at Melbourne University. His records indicate he also obtained a Master of Arts and a Diploma of Education and entered the clergy. He enlisted on 17/7/1915 in the 13th Reinforcements aged 26 and was posted to 2nd Field Ambulance, training in Broadmeadows. On enlistment he was described as 5’2”, 9 stone 5lbs, fair complexion, blue eyes and light brown hair. He embarked from Australia on Demonsthenes on the 29/12/1915 and was taken on strength 6th Field Ambulance from base Zeitoun, Moascar. 29/7/1916 he was sent to France, attached to the 7th Field Ambulance. He returned to Australia 17/4/1919 on MU Anchises without physical injury other than bilateral hearing loss and was discharged from the AIF.
In 1919 Louis married Flora Margaretta Emerson. They moved to Queensland and had a daughter born in 1922 in Maryborough. Louis continued his clerical career, completing a Degree of Bachelor of Divinity at the College of Divinity in 1932 and took up an appointment at St Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Walkerston, Queensland (1933-1943) living in “The Manse” before moving to Coolamon, Farrar in New South Wales. Both Louis and his wife died in Campbelltown NSW in 1962.
