25 Apr 1915: Involvement AIF WW1, Private, 139, 6th Infantry Battalion, ANZAC / Gallipoli, Stanley and Private Hacking with Sergeant Robert MacGregor Gillespie went out to cover the advance of a firing line, carried out under heavy fire and at close quarters to the enemy. Gillespie went ahead and whistled for the other two to advance up the right and left flanks, which happened several times. When Gillespie's whistle did not come, Swift went forward in the long grass to find him. Neither returned. Gillespie’s body was later located opposite Steele’s Post, Stanley Swift’s body was never located.
