Son of George Jesse Bennett and Harriet Ann Bennett of Sprinvale Road, Tunstall, Victoria formerly of 8 Cross Street, Canterbury, Victoria. Brother of Reginald E. Bennett of 'Ashburton' Cross Street, Canterbury, Victoria and Henry Gordon Bennett CB, CMG, DSO who returned to Australia on 15 May 1919 having served with the 6th Battalion
