George (born Gibson George Rae Garlick aka Pat) was the first child of Gertrude Ann Garlick (born 1879 in Molong, NSW). George was raised in Molong with his mother and Grandparents - George, a Blacksmith - and Florence.
In 1916, George was a Miner, and had previously been an Apprentice with Wigg and Dignan Printers in Molong, NSW. George enlisted at East Maitland in NSW in January 1916, and served as a Private, Corporal and Sergeant (Service No: 1660) with 34 Infantry Battalion and Machine Gun Battalion Details. He was WIA at Rouen in France in 1917, and was Discharged in May 1919.
Following his Discharge, George returned to Molong, NSW and worked as a Miner. In 1924 in Newcastle he married Mildred Dobbie (born 1900 at Minmi, NSW) and they lived at Cessnock in NSW where George was a Miner. In 1935 George and Mildred had moved to Redfern in Sydney, NSW where George was a Garage Proprietor, and in 1937 they were in East Mailtand where George was Proprietor of the George Dragon Hotel. In 1949 George and Mildred were in Newcastle, NSW where George was Proprietor of the Grand Hotel, and by 1954 they had returned to Sydney where George was working as a Commission Agent. In 1958 George and Mildred were in Manly,where George was a Hotel Manager until his death in 1962. Mildred continued to manage the Hotel until her death in 1980.
