Son of Johann Conrad August Von Bertouch and Johanna Matilda Von Bertouch nee Kretschmer of Lloyd Street, Petersburg, SA.

Brother of Marno Anton Von Bertouch (Bert) who returned to Australia on 15 May 1919 having served with the 9th Light Horse Regiment

Commenced return to Australia on 23 July 1919 aboard HT Canberra disembarking on 9 September 1919
