Son of John Hooke and Avis Hooke of New Street, Bishopsgate, London, England.

Brother of Utten Lamont Hooke who was killed on 21 June 1917 while serving with The Queen's (Royal West Surrey Regiment) 3rd/th Battalion and is buried in Level Crossing Cemetery, Fampoux, Plot 1, Row C, Grave 35

Occupations of Tea taster and buyer. Previously served in the Boer War and was considered an excellent rifle shot have won many prizes for shooting competitions
