Stan (Stanley Burbridge Powell) was the eldest of four children of Arthur Powell (b1870 in Boyanup WA) and Mary Stinton Ecclestone (b1872 in Picton Junction, WA). Arthur (a Blacksmith) and Mary married in 1897 in Bunbury WA. The family moved to Northam, WA in 1904, where Arthur was a Blacksmith.
Stan was a Clerk in Northam, WA when he enlisted in the AIF in 1916 - he had served with 87 Battalion (Subiaco - Leederville) for the previous eighteen months. Stan served as a Private (Service No:6854) with 11th Infantry battalion in France, and was Discharged in August 1919.
Returning to Northam, WA Stan worked as a Clerk and in the 1920s was an Accountant in Gerladton, living at the Geraldton Hotel. He died in 1927.
