Brother of Herbert Kevin O'Leary who returned to Australia on 5 August 1916 having served with the 1st Battalion.

Commenced return to Australia on 24 December 1918 aboard HT Takada disembarking on 11 February 1919 at Melbourne for onward travel to Sydney
