living at John Street, Thursday Island, Queensland.

On enlisting Eric lived in Sydney, NSW.

Previous service:  Naval Reserve - 12 months (left district).

Described on enlisting as 21 years 8 months old; single;146 lbs; 5' 11" tall;
fair complexion; grey eyes; fair hair; Church of England.

27/12/1916      Enlisted in Sydney
                        completed medical at Victoria Barracks - fit for service

7/2/1917          Embarked from Sydney on board HMAT Wiltshire A18
                        with 13th Infanty, 24th reinforcements
11/4/1917        Disembarked into Devonport, England
                        marched into 4th Training Brigade, Codford

21/6/1917        Taken on strength from 13th Infantry, Shefford

13/8/1917        proceeded overseas to France

20/8/1917        taken on strength into 5th Division Signal Company

25/10/1917      sick to hospital - gas and shell wound
2/11/1917        embarked for England on board HS Jan-Breydal
