Son of Charles Henry Oaten and Catherine Oaten nee Carroll of Flinders Street, Thornbury, Victoria.

Commenced return to Australia on 3 July 1919 aboard HT Prinz Hubertus disembarking on 24 August 1919

Medals: British War Medal, Victory Medal

During 1919c Charles married Ida Louisa Bruce in Victoria.

Post war he was employed as a gardener.
