Myrddyn (aka Mervyn) was born in Neath, Wales in 1909, second of three children of Morgan Davies (b1883 in Glamorgan, Wales) and Sarah Curtis (b1882 in Glamorgan, Wales). Morgan (a Grocer) and Sarah married in Glamorgan in 1903, and immigrated with their two eldest children in 1912, arriving in Melbourne, Victoria on board the Militiades. Morgan and Sarah lived in Kyabram, Bunyip and Pyangle, where Morgan was a Farmer. In 1925 the family moved to Mildura, where Morgan was a Newsagent, and served as a Justice of the Peace, member of the Chamber of Commerce and President of Mildura Rotary Club. In the mid 1930s, Morgan and Sarah moved their family to the WA Goldfields - Norseman and Esperance - where Morgan worked cyaniding gold tailings. In the mid 1940s Morgan and Sarah retired to Mornington, Victoria.
Myrddyn worked as a Shop Assistant in Mildura where, in 1932, he married Nancie Claire Hudson (b1911 in Mildura, Victoria). Myrddyn and Nancie moved to Norseman, WA where Myrddyn worked as a Miner. In 1940, when he enlisted in the Army, Myrddyn and Nancie were living in Mildura and Myrddyn gave his occupation as Motor Mechanic. Following his Discharge, Myrddyn and Nancie settled in Irymple, Mildura where Myrddyn was a Newsagent and then Horticulturalist. Nancie died in 1982 and Myrddyn in 1996.
