Biography

Gustaf William Oscar Staaf was born to Andrew Staaf and Frances Elleanor Eiles Omant. He had four brothers and two sisters who all married.

"PRIVATE G. W. O. STAAF

Yesterday the Rev. B. T. Buntine had the painful duty of conveying to Mr. and Mrs. A. Staaf, of Campaspe West, the news of the death of their son, Private G. W. O. Staaf, who was killed in action in France on September 1. The deceased soldier was well-known in Echuca, and was much liked by those who knew him. Mr. and Mrs. Staaf have the sympathy of the public in the loss of their brave soldier son." - from the Riverine Herald 14 Sep 1918 (nla.gov.au)
