PTE. GEO. R. BEVERIDGE.
Keen regret was expressed on Tuesday when it became known that Cr. W. Beveridge, President of the Warrnambool Shire, had received word that his eldest son, Pte. George Russell Beveridge, died of wounds at the 10th General Hospital, on 11th October.
Pte. Beveridge. who was 23 years of age, enlisted about 12 months ago and sailed from Australia in November last year. He was educated at the Warrnambool High School, and passed through the course of study with considerable credit, eventually joining his father in the management of the farm at Grasmere. He was a young man of considerable promise, and was a keen judge of stock.
Sympathetic reference was made to the sad event by the Mayor (Cr. Swinton) at Tuesday night's meeting of the Town Council, and it was resolved to forward a letter of condolence to Cr. and Mrs. Beveridge and family.
