23 Aug 1918: Honoured Distinguished Conduct Medal, The Battle of Amiens, Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and initiative at Chuignes on 23 August, 1918. He organized an attack on a machine gun post, which was holding up the advance. In spite of being hit in the eye by a bullet, which blinded him, he carried on, and overcame the machine gun post, remaining at duty till the final objective was reached.'
