Kevin William Scott enlisted on the same day as his brother, 1451 Cpl. Joseph Patrick Scott and both ended up serving in the 13th Field Artillery Brigade. Joseph was killed in action on 21 August 1917, aged 25.
Another older brother, 667 Pte. John Joseph Scott 38th Battalion AIF, was soon after killed in action near Passchendaele on 13 October 1917, aged 31.
Kevin was ordered home to Australia, in a cable sent to England by the Defence Department, for ‘family reasons’, probably due to the death of his two brothers and the fact that his mother was widowed.
They were the sons of James Joseph and Maria Scott, formerly of Trentham, Victoria. Their father had been a chemist in the town and had passed away during 1915, just before they all enlisted.
